Prof Jatin Bhatt
Prof. Jatin Bhatt was the Vice Chancellor of Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) which he joined in 2012 as founding Dean to set up the School of Design. He is a graduate in Industrial Design from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
After a decade of design practice, he moved to active design academics to set up the Accessory Design Department at NIFT in 1991. While at NIFT he conceived and led varied initiatives in industry and craft clusters of handicrafts, toys, jewellery, carpets, wool, footwear, leather goods, cane & bamboo. He has supported capacity building, entrepreneurship, technology development, market strategies, design & product development, artisans’ rehabilitation, training and resource linkages of various organisations.
He has been closely involved with the concept and implementation of legal protection of community traditional knowledge under the instrument of Geographical Indicator (GI) and been on various forums constituted by UNESCO, Government of India and J&K State Government. He has been advisor and on expert committees for curriculum development and review for Indian Institute of Craft & Design Jaipur, CLRI Chennai, IIGJ Delhi, IIGJ Jaipur, IIGJ Mumbai, Pearl Academy, IDC IIT Mumbai and Craft Development Institute Srinagar, Kashmir. Prof. Bhatt has been on jury panel for various national & international competitions and has presented papers as keynote speaker, design expert & design educationist in India & abroad.
